The university of basrah has held a seminar about some sugary compounds .
The department of Pharmaceutical chemistry at the College of Pharmacy - university of basrah organized a seminar entitled:(Preparation and study the biology of some sugar and amino glycoproteins compounds).The seminar which was presented by Dr.Mudher Najm Abdullah has illustrated the preparation of amino glycoprotein compounds containing alkyl groups and the study of these compounds as inhibitors of a specific type of proteins called connexon CX26, which is believed to be the main cause of deafness of newborn babies (1 per thousand children). The results of the discussed study that these compounds have a high ability to inhibit these proteins, which enables them to treat this type of deafness.
