A lecturer at the Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basra, Dr. Wisal Odeh Hassan Al-Halfi, published a scientific research on the microbial evaluation of breast milk for lactating and non-lactating women from Dhi Qar Governorate.
The aim of the research is to indicate the presence of a microbial community in milk in both lactating and non-lactating women, in addition to examining some statistical relationships between the different variables.
The research included taking samples from approximately 90 women aged between 20-35 years, after giving birth at different periods. After culture, isolation, dyeing and genetic diagnostic techniques, 60 were selected to perform the sequencing technique of genetics, 54 isolates were diagnosed, the predominant bacteria were Enterococcus, Staphylococcus, Leuconostoc, and other species, in addition to the emergence of Candida yeasts.
The basic differences appeared with regard to the relationship of the type of breastfeeding that did not appear among the other relationships,but Dr. Wisal Al-Halfi used other genetic diagnostic techniques for quantitative and qualitative knowledge and linked them to the chemical and immunological content of milk
