The university nurse at the College of Nursing at the University of Basrah (Zahraa Abass Abd-Alnabi) obtained a master's degree in (Adult Nursing). Where she discussed her thesis tagged (Determinants of Critical Care & Emergency Units Nurse’s Independence Level of Clinical Decision-Making during Covid-19 Pandemic: A Multi-Country Study) and it was accepted with a degree (Excellence) and the discussion took place at the College of Nursing - University of Baghdad on September 1, 2021. The thesis discussed professional independence, as it is the basis for distinguishing any profession, as nurses around the world focus on developing their profession through their participation in training programs related to professional independence. The most important aim of the thesis was to determine the level of independence of nurses of units (critical care and emergency departments, surgical and internal units) in making clinical decisions among Arabic-speaking countries during the Corona pandemic. A descriptive (cross-sectional) study was conducted in which a nursing activity assessment questionnaire was used. It targeted (708) nurses from critical care units, emergency, and departments of surgery and internal medicine in the Arabic-speaking countries (Iraq, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and Palestine) who met the criteria and conditions of the study, and descriptive and inferential tests were used in the study. The results of the study showed that there was no statistically significant difference in the level of professional independence between the Arabic-speaking countries and the nursing workplace. It also indicated that there are obstacles to practicing professional independence, the most important of which is, and there is no statistically significant relationship between professional independence and social and demographic characteristics. And the most important conclusions of the thesis is that the variable of professional independence in clinical decision-making is a concept with multiple faces and its path cannot be determined by a single factor, but rather it is a product of the interaction of multiple factors, including subjective, professional and institutional. This achievement is considered a new and distinct addition to our college, wishing it the advantage of giving and excellence in its scientific and academic life, Allah willing. |
