On Monday morning, 20/9/2021, in the Information and Libraries Department at the College of Arts, the research of the Higher Diploma, entitled (Scientific Documentation in the University Theses for the Departments of the College of Arts / University of Basrah), was discussed.
The research presented by the student Furqan Abdul Shaheed Karim included four chapters. The first chapter discussed the general framework of the research. The second chapter discussed the theoretical aspect of the research. The third chapter dealt with the practical aspect of the research. While The fourth chapter dealt with the results and recommendations.
The research aims to identify the systems used in university theses in the departments of the College of Arts - University of Basrah, the systems most commonly used in documenting sources and margins in the departments of the college, the difficulties and problems facing the owners of theses, and the most common errors in documenting sources and margins in scientific departments.
The research concluded that the theses owners in the College of Arts depend on the research methods of the department, such as (Arabic language - geography - history) and it was found from the errors in the documentation process that some researchers change the order in the publication data. A problem also arose in the arrangement of the sources, as some use the name backwards and others use the full name, and here it leads to a defect in the alphabetical arrangement.
