The College of Agriculture at the University of Basra organized a training course on the importance of medicinal and aromatic medicinal plants in the pharmaceutical industry and medicinal drugs for the treatment of many diseases, as they are used in various medical preparations according to their medical use as stimulants, disinfectants, tonics, analgesics and therapeutic ointments or to reduce blood pressure and other medical uses . The extracts of medicinal and aromatic plants contain many active substances such as volatile oils, alkaloids and glycosides that have a beneficial effect, which play an important role in increasing the effectiveness of these plants when used as natural insecticides to kill or expel insects such as neem and are also used in the fight against fungi and harmful bacteria. plants as well as diseases harmful to humans and animals in a natural way that is not harmful to the environment, and the course aimed to Corps of engineering cadres on the classification of medicinal and aromatic plants and the most important types spread in Iraq. 2- Introducing the engineering cadres to the content of medicinal plants from the active substances. 3- Introducing engineering cadres to methods of extracting active substances from medicinal plants. 4- Introducing engineering cadres to methods of preserving and storing active substances and protecting them from oxidation and damage. . 5- Introducing engineering cadres on how to use medicinal plant extracts as pesticides for insect and disease pests.
