Polymer Research Centre (PRC) organized a seminar, presented by Dr. Amer Al-daghman, entitled “Porous Silicon: From Formation to Application”. He pointed out types and characteristics of silicon films and the main reasons for being preferred among other semiconductors. He also clarified that how the orientation, surface nature and crystallization degree of crystals can be a basis for the silicon films discrimination.
The session addressed the fundamental requirements for formation of porous layer on all types of silicon films and factors that can effect on the type and crystal orientation of produced silicon substrate, like applied voltage, doping process and electrolyte concentrations. The session also mentioned to the photodetectors; starting from preparation to the circuit connection and photo detection, and how can porous silicon constituted photodetectors affects the conductive polymer performance. Study of the optical and electronic properties exhibited from heterogeneous solar cells was also conducted and referred during this session.
