The two female teachers at the College of Pharmacy, Dr. Suha Haitham and Dr. Azza Sajid, published a paper entitled (Impact of parasitic infection with Ascaris lumbricoides on pulmonary function tests in asthmatic and non-asthmatic children) in the journal Respiratory Medicine Case Reports
The Dutchman has an impact factor of 1.5 and is included in Clarvet and Scopus containers.
The research included a study of the relationship between infection with the parasite Ascaris and bronchial asthma in children and within the age group (12-16) years.
The study aimed to find out the effect of parasite infection - specifically Ascaris parasite - on the occurrence of immune infections in particular on the respiratory system represented by bronchial asthma, due to the pathogenic effect of the parasite when it passes through the lung in the larval stage.
The study concluded that some of the contact indicators and indicators for examining lung function, that this study is the first of its kind that deals with the direct relationship between infection with a parasite and the occurrence of asthma in children.
