A master’s thesis at the College of Medicine, University of Basrah, discussed the EEG changes and in adult epilepsy patients. The research presented by student Massara Ghassan Abdel Karim aims to determine whether there is any correlation between EEG changes in adult patients with unprovoked epilepsy and the protein concentration of these receptors. The molecular targets of most antiepileptic drugs are ion channels such as transient potential difference receptor (TRP) channels, which are thought to be partly responsible for epileptic seizures. The research recommended the necessity of taking a larger sample of patients and conducting analysis of the level of this protein in patients with treatment-resistant epilepsy and studying the level of this protein before and after treatment in patients with epilepsy.
