A seminar entitled (Studying the Geotechnical Properties of the Soil in Basra Governorate Using Geographic Information Systems). Hold at the College of Science, Geology Department. The presenter Humam haider Essa demonstrates the most important objectives of the study: Produce digital geotechnical maps that contain geotechnical information for Shear strength, Standard penetration test and ultimate bearing capacity of the Basrah city.
Make three tracks for the study area, each track contains several boreholes where five meters were studied for each site and the layers of bearing capacity were known and the type of soil was determined at each layer.
