The Continuing Education and Development
Center at The University of Basra organized an electronic workshop through a live broadcast for participants in the Iraqi governorates on the theoretical foundations and practical applications of data analysis using the SPSS statistical package.
The aim of the workshop, which is part of the Teaching Methods Course for faculty members, is to familiarize participants with the basics of statistics, its role in scientific research, and how to analyze data using the SPSS statistical package.
The workshop, which was presented by Dr. Amer Abdel Nabi Al-Abadi, included calculating measures of central tendency for one sample, for more than one sample, measures of dispersion for one sample and for more than one sample, and how to extract descriptive statistics with charts: (histograms, graphs, pie chart, and normal distribution curve)
At the end, the recommendation was:
introducing statistics in the study courses for students of primary and higher studies of all disciplines, and the including computer subject in the university study, the SPSS program, to provide students with the necessary skills for use in their scientific research
