Department of Biology, College of Sciences, University of Basra has organized the seminar entitled (type 2 diabetes and obesity) by the phD student Yusra Shaker Abdel-Zahra.
The seminar was about the relationship of type 2 diabetes with obesity.the seminar included clarification of the spread of diabetes globally, the extent of its economic impact, and the symptoms associated with diabetes, which include high blood glucose level and its impact on the emergence of different symptoms and othre disease for the affected individual,methods of diagnosing the disease,approved tests to determine the severity of the disease,and what are the causes leading to the disease and accompanying complications in the short and long term of disease such as heart and kidney disease. In addition, the impact of obesity was discussed as one of the factors that cause diabetes and its increase in developed and developing countries. Global plans for the prevention and treatment of patients were presented. The study recommended a statement of the impact of common factors among patients in increasing the chance of developing diabetes
