The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Basrah organized a scientific symposium on (Genetic Selection in Controlling Genetic Diseases in Milking Cows) in the presence of some college professors and postgraduate and undergraduate students.
The symposium aimed to identify how to select genetic diseases and try to exclude them when fertilizing dairy cows.
The symposium presented by Dr. Ahmed Sabah Al-Khudair, a researcher at the University of Toledo, USA, included an explanation of how complete genetic analysis is carried out using (microarray DNA sequencing) technology and then identifying genetic mutations that lead to abnormalities and genetic pathological defects to reach herds free of these diseases due to the economic losses caused by these diseases.
