The Department of Animal Production at the College of Agriculture at the University of Basra organized a scientific workshop on epigenetic genetics, which is the new old science. The workshop aimed to demonstrate the impact of epigenetic marks on the process of gene expression, as well as their role in determining biological age and age-related diseases. The workshop, in which the teacher, Dr. Salah Mahdi Al-Sudani lectured, included an explanation of the epigenetic marks represented by DNA methylation, histone modification and short RNA molecules and their role in changing genetic traits, diseases and aging, as well as addressing the role of CRISPR technology in the process of regulating these epigenetic marks, in addition to the role of acid methylation.
