Palm Research Center flags / Wafaa Al-Mayahi.
Instructor Wafaa Hasaj Al-Mayahi participated in the Palm Research Center, at the invitation of the Basra Governorate Office, the Women’s Empowerment Department, in cooperation with the Iraqi Al-Firdaws Association and with the support of the Norwegian NPM Association, a workshop on (women’s political participation is a right not a gift).
The participation included a lecture on the prospects and challenges that Al-Mayahi faced while running in the 2021 Iraqi parliamentary elections, the controversies of the women’s quota law, and how to develop treatments and solutions through legislation laws that preserve the quota law from contradictory interpretations that affect the representation of women in Parliament, which negatively affects the political empowerment of Iraqi women in Parliament Iraqi.
The workshop aims to empower Iraqi women politically and shed light on the experience of women in the 2021 Iraqi parliamentary elections.
