
The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Nabil Kazim Abdul Sahib, received the Indian Ambassador in Baghdad, Mr. Prashant Besai, and they discussed prospects for joint scientific cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, the Minister of Higher Education expressed the Iraqi academic institutions' aspiration to develop the level of cooperation and exchange programs with reputable Indian universities with a global presence in international forums.
He stressed the importance of drafting agreements, memoranda of understanding, and coordination mechanisms between the two sides in the fields of twinning between universities, joint supervision, organizing mutual scholarship programs, and enhancing scientific cooperation in the health, medical and technical fields. Referring to the willingness of Iraqi universities to offer scholarships in undergraduate and postgraduate studies in the same number granted to Iraq by the Indian side.
For his side, the Ambassador welcomed the proposals, visions and strategy that the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is working on, stressing the possibility of developing cultural exchange paths, especially with regard to scholarships offered to Iraqi students.
