The College of Dentistry University of Basrah with the Continuous Education Unit held a scientific lecture under the title "Bacterial Infections of the Digestive System" delivered by the Assistant. Professor. Dr. Salman Sahab Atshan, a specialist in Medical Microbiology.
The lecture included a quick review to the digestive system infections, starting with food poisoning, and knowing the reasons that lead to food contamination with heat-resistant bacterial toxins, as well as stomach acid, which causes cases of vomiting, diarrhea, heat, as well as stomach cramps when it reaches the intestines through eating raw or uncooked food.
The lecture dealt with clarification of a number of bacteria, parasites, and viruses and how they are transmitted to humans through contamination of food and water by animal waste and their effects on severe illness such as diarrhea, vomiting, heat and stomach cramps as a result of its severe harmful factors causing mortality and death for many patients.
By the end of the lecture, the lecture listened to the most important wanderings, questioned and recommendations that illuminated the true goals of this lecture through quick diagnosis and having a preventive treatments to control and eliminate these infections.
