The President of Basrah University, Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, the Dean of the College of Arts, and the Dean of the College of Education for Women, participated in the celebration of the International Day of the Arabic Language, which was held by the Basra Governorate Office in the Central Public Library, in the presence of several intellectuals, writers, and public and official figures.
The President of the University of Basrah gave a speech during the ceremony and stressed the need to make the Arabic language lesson advanced and not rigid, which would alienate students from it, and thus students would be far from the high rates and deprive them of opportunities to obtain what they aspire to from colleges.
Shaheen added that the university will exert its efforts to hold specialized conferences and workshops to raise the level of teaching curricula in our schools and colleges, and to review and revise books, even scientific ones, and theses and dissertations for postgraduate studies, to reach our goal in preserving our authentic language, the language of the Qur’an.
