Dr. Mohammed Tawfiq Obeed, a lecturer at the Polymer Research Centre, organized a seminar, entitled “Medical Adhesives”. The lecture included a brief presentation on medical adhesives, focusing on materials used in their manufacture, which are represented by polymers such as polystyrene, polycarbonate, polyethylene, polypropylene...etc. It was also exposed to the conditions that must be met by these adhesives, such as non-toxicity, adhesion to organic and inorganic materials, solid before and after treatment, and anti-microbial. There are several types of medical adhesives, including:
Hydrocolloid’s adhesives, hydrophobic adhesives, electrically conductive tapes.
