The Department of English at the College of Education for Human Sciences, in cooperation with Dar Al Samer for Printing and Publishing, held a dialogue session entitled (Readings in a Book of Issues in Translation), in which (Professor Dr. Kazem Khalaf Al-Ali), a lecturer in the Department of Translation - College of Arts - University of Basra, gave a lecture to the students of the department / The evening study, and the session was moderated by Dr. Saad Al-Malki, Head of the English Language Department, and the session was in the Martyr Izz Al-Din Salim Hall, in the presence of the Associate Dean for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Asaad Abbas Hindi, and the Associate Dean for Administrative Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Nofal Kazem Mahous.
The lecture included a set of issues related to general, literary and religious translation. At the beginning of his lecture, the lecturer dealt with the story (the Tower of Babel mentioned in the Book of Genesis), then one of the stories that refer to the beginnings of translation. He continued to talk about the translation methods of ancient translators such as Cicero, and Saint Jerome, Martin Luther, John Dryden, Schleiermarcher, and others. In addition, the lecturer spoke about the conditions of translation, as set by some theorists, such as the translation conditions of the first translation martyr, Etienne Dolla, Fraser Tytler, and others.
At the end of the lecture, Prof. Dr. Kazem Khalaf Al-Ali answered the questions posed by the students, while signing some copies of the book as a gift to them.
