The polymer research center organized a lecture in the seminar hall prepared by Assist. Prof. Dr. Sanaa Qasim Badr, which included the study of the use of yeasts in bioprocessing technology to eliminate pollution from petroleum hydrocarbons and their derivatives. The study proved that yeasts played a major role in the bioaccumulation of petroleum hydrocarbons in their bodies to get rid of them and purify the environment from oil pollution. Yeasts collect petroleum hydrocarbons in the cell wall and then produce enzymes that permeate them into less dangerous compounds and bring them to the environment, and the yeasts have a special gene for this important characteristic in bioprocessing technology.
