The Department of Ecology at the College of Science at the University of Basra organized a seminar on the concentrations of heavy metals in some fresh and frozen economic fish.
The seminar, in which a postgraduate student - diploma, Mortada Hamid Khafeef, lectured, aims to clarify the role of minerals in fish and know their dangers to consumers if they exceed the recommended limits.
The seminar dealt with the importance of minerals in the life of living organisms, including fish, to enter them through the surface of the body, gills, or the alimentary canal, and increasing their concentration higher than required makes them toxic to these organisms.
