The College of Law at the University of Basrah, in cooperation with Al-Kunooz Private College, organized a conference on social justice. The conference discussed a group of researches from Iraq and the Arab countries, which focused on the recent events that afflicted our Arab societies as the fragility of the political and social situation in these countries that lack clear and accurate definition of the concepts of freedom, democracy and social justice, which led to the apparent flop in the presumed growth of society after the demise of governments known for tyranny and confiscation of the rights of citizens.
The conference aims to introduce the principles of social justice and its implications and application in society, try to reach a new concept of justice in our contemporary society, evaluate the current legislation concerned with social justice, and propose new legal regulations that address legislative shortcomings to ensure the achievement of social justice by drawing new legal texts or treating existing ones.
