Instructors from the College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah, Faten Essam Hussein, Dr. Falah Hassan Shari and Dr. Ola Muhammad Nour Al-Moussawi published a paper entitled (Antioxidant Activity of Rosmarinic Acid Extracted and Purified from Mentha piperita) in the Iranian Journal Archives of Razi Institute.
The research included studying the effect of rosmarinic acid as an antioxidant in laboratory on three factors. The laboratory results of the antioxidant activity in the displacement test of free radicals generated by DPPH showed a strong antioxidant effect, which is close to the effect of standard vitamin C, as the inhibition rate was 95.58% at a concentration of 100 μg / ml of rosmarinic acid and 87.83% at a concentration of 100 µg/mL in a free radical displacement assay using hydrogen peroxide.
The aim of the research is to evaluate the antioxidant activity of rosmarinic acid in vitro. The research included studying the antioxidant activity by 3 agents -diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl-1(DPPH) 2- hydrogen peroxide H2O2 (Ferric Reducing Anti-Oxidant Power Assay) REDOX-3
