The College of Fine Arts at the University of Basrah hosted the annual competition for students’ creative projects organized by the (Stilllink) Foundation under the title of the Seventeenth Iraqi National Olympiad (INPO) by presenting the products of scientific projects for students of Turkish schools of Ishik.
In a statement to the president of the university, he said, “This competition is being held for the first time in Basra Governorate, and as a matter of openness towards society, we were keen to host it after a long break from hosting our children, students of primary and private schools, which lasted about two years due to the conditions of the pandemic, and today we meet again to present the innovations and scientific projects of the students of the Turkish Ishik schools in Basra, and we hope for all of our children to win the competition. As the student’s participation is considered a success for him and his family, regardless of the results of the competition.”
On the other hand, the Director-General of the Turkish Ishik Schools in Iraq, Omid Ozri, said, "The competition includes many age groups of students of our school, whose ages are between (10-18) years, and it was divided according to the disciplines of physics, chemistry, biology, computer and engineering designs, each separately. Arbitration committees have been prepared for each of these branches to sort out the projects and innovations and reward the top ten by adopting the promotion of their projects in international competitions held in Europe and America, in addition to paying the financial cost spent on the completion of those projects to the winners.
It is worth mentioning that the beginnings of the Iraqi National Olympics go back to 2005, when it was organized for 16 times and it is now held for the first time in Basra under the auspices and embrace of its university. The competition is the largest Olympic event in the world that depends on the projects of primary and secondary school students. The Olympics have been hosted in many countries such as the United States of America, the Netherlands, Jordan, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Uganda, Brazil and Romania.
