The College of Engineering at the University of Basrah organized a scientific trip for third-year students to the Muhaila desalination plant in Abi Al-Khasib, accompanied by Dr. Ahmed Abdel Karim Mahdi and Dr. Raad Jamal.
The trip aims to identify the modern technologies used in the newly established Muhaila station, in which water is desalinated, with a production capacity of 3000 cubic meters per hour (72000 cubic meters per day).
This plant supplies large areas of Abu Al-Khasib and has the ability to desalinate raw water from Shatt Al-Arab, which can deal with varying percentages of salts at rates ranging from 2000 to 30000 (ppm). This project is one of the unique projects in Iraq in terms of dealing with these varying percentages of salts, as modern technologies were introduced that enabled the station to perform its role.
