The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Basrah organized a training course on the ways and ethics of dealing with laboratory animals, in the presence of a number of postgraduate students and professors at the college.
The course aimed to teach researchers and students the internationally agreed upon ethics that must be applied during the stage of dealing with laboratory animals.
The course, in which a number of physiology, pharmacology and biochemistry instructors gave lectures, included lectures on the common breeds of laboratory animals and how to choose a laboratory animal in accordance with the topic of scientific research and methods of collecting blood from these animals for laboratory examinations.
The course also touched on the most important aspect of dealing with these animals, which is ethics and humanity in dealing as it has favour in discovering the cure for many diseases.
