During a meeting with the Iraqi Minister of Health, Dr. Hani Musa Badr Al-Uqabi and a delegation from the French Development Agency headed by its project Manager, Mr. Serge Senrich, the, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Nabeel Kadim Abdul Sahib renewed the keenness on integrating in the fields of joint work and strengthening cooperation with international organizations that support the progress of the development sectors in Iraq.
Dr. Abdul Sahib confirmed that the academic institutions, their centers and scientific laboratories are moving towards developing specialized services that are in the public interest and community service, especially in the Governorates that have been under the severe damage caused by ISIS terrorists.
His Excellency highlighted that the steps of cooperation and integration with the Ministry of Health to manage medical research centers at the University of Mosul will achieve important results in terms of providing advanced health and treatment services to the citizens in Nineveh Governorate based on PM article (282) for 2021.
Dr. Abdul Sahib said that the meeting concluded that the Ministries of Higher Education and Health agreed to form a joint Board of Directors between the University of Mosul and the Nineveh Health Department to manage these research centers, organize their work and start providing scientific, research and treatment services.
For his part, Dr. Al-Uqabi expressed the health institution's readiness on providing full support and providing the appropriate environment to activate the medical research centers at the University of Mosul and to overcome logistical and technical challenges.
For their part, the French side appreciate the educational and health institutions in Iraq’s keenness on enhancing the joint action map and setting the contexts that regulate the work of development projects and benefit from the possible support provided by the French Agency in light of the agreed upon timelines, as well as the French delegation demonstrated a presentation of the proposed project aspects to support medical research centers.
It is worth mentioning that the meeting was attended by President of University of Mosul, the University’s assistant and a number of General Directors of the Ministries.
