The Department of Life Sciences organized a panel discussion entitled (The role of bacteria in the intestine and its relationship to colorectal cancer events) for the student of Ph.D Ahmed Saadoon, where the seminar dealt with the importance of the colon and the most important types of bacteria present in it and the interrelationship between the intestine and bacteria, where the intestine contributes to providing food for bacteria and bacteria play an important role Through the process of digestion and absorption of nutrients in the case of a healthy intestine, as explained in the event of a change in the natural conditions of bacteria inside the intestine, such as a change in the diet or the environment or through the effect of antibiotics, this leads to Dysbiosis, a state of disorder or imbalance in the presence of bacteria Inside the intestine, thus losing beneficial bacteria and increasing pathogenic bacteria. The episode also touched on the statement of the most important pathogenic bacteria (Fusobacterium nucleatum and Enterotoxigenic Bacteroides) and the statement of the mechanism adopted by bacteria in causing or stimulating the events of cancer through virulence factors, the most important of which are Toxins.
