A master's thesis at the University of Basrah (Bacterial frequency in Hemodialysis Patients), by a M.Sc. student (Muna Abdul Sattar Faisal), aims to investigate the microbiological quality of the dialysis water used at hemodialysis center. The study has concluded that the treated water used in dialysis units contains many types of bacteria some of them recorded with new 16S rRNA gene sequence with few mutations and deposited in the NCBI database as new local strains and as such, the study recommended the use of more efficient disinfectants and filters in the water treatment units in the dialysis center to eradicate the unwanted bacteria
