In conjunction with the hospitality in the holy month of Ramadan, the Department of Quranic Sciences at the College of Education for Human Sciences - University of Basra organized a scientific symposium on “Sciences and Recitation of the Noble Qur’an” with the participation of researchers and specialists from the Majeed Quran House in Basra. Al-Salihi dealt with the hadith about the history of the Qur’an and its virtues, the necessity of memorizing it and benefiting from the educational and moral lessons derived from its concepts. Sheikh Al-Salihi referred to the phenomenon of basmalah in the early surahs, the distinction between Meccan and Medina, and other issues and jokes related to understanding and contemplating the Qur’an.
The symposium discussed the challenges facing the university student, which requires seriousness and diligence in seeking knowledge, with an emphasis on the privacy of the Noble Qur’an and its sciences, which are the basis of culture and knowledge.
The symposium indicated that the aim of holding this meeting is to raise awareness among young people who are the nucleus of society, to introduce them to their religious and doctrinal constants, and to preserve the Islamic identity among the student community.
The symposium concluded with the recitation of verses from the Noble Qur’an in both intermittent and continuous ways. For the purpose of correcting the reading of the students, the reader explained in it some provisions of the endowment, the initiation, the exits of the letters, and other provisions of the recitation.
