The President of Basrah University, Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, received a delegation from UN Women and the UN Population Fund with the Italian Agency for Development and Cooperation (AICS).
The meeting discussed ways to improve the safety, protection and well-being of women and girls who are survivors of gender-based violence and the possibility of holding a conference in coordination with the Council of Ministers and the University of Basrah in this regard.
It is worth mentioning that UN Women and the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) are committed to addressing gender-based violence by strengthening institutional capacities to scale and improve multi-sectoral responses and supporting governments to advance their agenda on gender equality and women's empowerment.
