At the Department of Arabic Language at the College of Arts / University of Basrah, a master's thesis entitled ( Dr. Mahmoud Suleiman Yaqout and his grammatical efforts) was discussed.
The thesis presented by the student Muhammad Lazem Salih included a preface and three chapters. The preface dealt with his life and scientific activity. The first chapter discussed his position on the genesis of Arabic grammar and its origins. The second chapter included his method of grammar, and the third chapter discussed a study of his most important grammatical writings.
The thesis aims to introduce Dr. Mahmoud Suleiman Yaqout by translating, showing his efforts and knowing his grammatical approach through his choices, opinions, and grammatical terms, highlighting his most important grammatical writings and the approach he took in the book The Expression of the Noble Quran and the Book of Educational Grammar and Application in the Noble Quran.
The thesis concluded that Dr. Mahmoud Suleiman Yaqout had a passion for the Arabic language from a young age, so he was connected with the mosque and memorized parts of the Holy Quran. This helped him to connect with the Arabic language from his early childhood. Then the thesis showed that Dr. Mahmoud Yaqout had attained a prestigious scientific position, and this confirms that he occupied many great administrative and academic positions during his scientific career. Dr. Mahmoud Yaqout left a large heritage of research and literature in the Arabic language and its different sciences .
