At the Department of History at the College of Arts /University of Basrah, a PhD thesis entitled( Women in travel books and countries) was discussed.
The thesis presented by the student, Russell Adel Nehme, included three chapters. The first chapter discussed the concept of the journey, its origin and development until the end of the eighth century AH / fourteenth century AD. The second chapter included the topics of women in travel literature and its types, and the third chapter discussed issues and aspects of women in travel literature.
The thesis aims to reveal the main themes addressed and conveyed by travel and country books.
The thesis concluded :
1- Getting to know the situation of women and observing a deep idea of what is happening in different countries in terms of dealing with women.
2- Knowing the difference in dealing with women in Islamic and non-Islamic countries.
