Doctoral thesis in the Department of Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance / College of Education for Human Sciences, University of Basra - The effect of counseling styles centered on the cognitive structure and psychodrama in modifying the irrational ideas that support doubt among middle school students - for the student (Maryam Talib Attia)
The thesis dealt with irrational ideas that support doubt. Irrational thoughts are the basis for several psychological problems, which magnify the egregiousness of situations and detract from the value of self and others. The person with the problem sees that individuals are evil and must be punished, and this is an obstacle to the establishment of a balanced or mentally healthy personality.
This thesis aims to identify:
The effect of counseling centered on the cognitive structure in modifying the irrational thoughts that support doubt among the female students of the preparatory stage.
The effect of psychodrama in modifying irrational thoughts that support doubt.
To test the research hypotheses, the researcher followed the experimental method, and used the experimental design with two experimental groups and a control group with a pre and post test. To achieve the goal of the research, the researcher built a scale of irrational thoughts that support doubt, and in its final form, it consists of (35) paragraphs.
The results of the research showed an effect of the counseling method centered on the cognitive structure and psychodrama in modifying the irrational ideas that support doubt.
The thesis recommended:
Schools' interest in students' problems, especially those related to cognitive aspects.
Benefit from the scale prepared by the researcher and the two indicative programs.
- Urging the guides to diversify the guiding methods.
The thesis suggested:
- Conducting correlational studies (irrational thoughts that support doubt and their relationship to emotional balance)
- Conducting a study to identify the irrational thoughts that support suspicion, but by changing the sample, i.e. identifying the irrational thoughts that support doubt among (males, married, divorced women, ....).
