The Department of Arabic Language at the College of Education for Human Sciences - University of Basra held its third integrated international scientific conference on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, marked with (Linguistic and Literary Heritage in Basra until the end of the tenth century AH, a new contemporary reading), which was taken from this city. The slogan is (Basra, the poem of Iraq and the glory of the Arab heritage).
It was an international scientific conference, in which a number of researchers from outside Iraq participated, which created the cross-fertilization of ideas and visions and the blending of cultures, through fruitful presentation and scientific interventions that took place between researchers and the attending professors.
The conference began with the speech of the Honorable Dean of the College of Education for Human Sciences, Prof. Dr. Hamid Siraj Jaber, and the most prominent content of his speech: his emphasis on the benefit that emerged from the conferences held by our college, including our department conference, which is in keeping with contemporary reality. He praised the orientation of our conference and a number of other conferences to shed light on To highlight the identity and position occupied by Basra, past and present.
Then came the speech of the Head of the Arabic Language Department, Prof. Dr. Salem Yaqoub Yousef. He began his speech by welcoming the attendees and the participating professors, for their good and valuable efforts that were able to support the conference and make it a success. Being the first Arab metropolis in which the sciences of Arabic and other sciences grew, then these sciences expanded and set out to other spaces and horizons.
The conference curriculum included a lecture by one of the professors from the Arab countries, Professor Dr. (Al-Bashir Al-Tahali) from the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences - Ibn Zohr University - Agadir, Kingdom of Morocco. The lecture was entitled (Basra, the cradle of theorizing for the Arab statement, looks at Al-Jahiz’s graphic).
Then the conference proceeded with its first and second sessions. The axes of the conference revolved around this immortal heritage produced by the Arab mind in Basra. Among the most prominent topics presented were Qur’anic studies, and the efforts of scholars in language, literature, rhetoric, statement and interpretation, and included other axes that were distributed in the fields of the ancient Arab heritage.
At the conclusion of the conference, the Chairman of the Preparatory Committee, Prof. Dr. Khaled Abdel-Kazim Adhari, presented the recommendations that came out of the conference, including the keenness to continue holding scientific conferences in the field of the Arabic language and its various sciences, due to the scientific value in these forums, mutual cultural spread, and openness to societies, After that, certificates of appreciation were presented to the participants in the conference.
