The Department of Translation at the College of Arts / the University of Basrah holds a panel discussion for the postgraduate student (Master’s) Maha Abdul Wahid Sabr entitled (A Study of the Responses of Student Translators to Basic Problems in Translating Children's Literature) through her thesis bearing the same title under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Kazem Khalaf Al-Ali, on Monday,16 May 2022.
The panel included the translation of children's literature, which differs from the translation of adult literature, and the problems that occur during the translation process, especially since the readers of this type of literature are the category of children whose cognitive ability in the process of the growth phase.
Maha pointed out the characteristics and functions of this type of literature in the Arab and foreign cultures and explained that the most prominent problems facing translators in it are linguistic and cultural.
The student used a questionnaire to indicate the extent of translatability, how to deal with the texts of literature, answer the study questions, and reach the results of the study and other future studies.
