The College of Medicine at the University of Basrah organized the 17th International Medical Conference under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Nabil Kazem Abdul-Saheb, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and under the slogan “Patients come first.” The conference was opened with verses from the Holy Quran, then the musical band consisting from students of the College of Fine Arts was listened to.
Then the honorable attendees were welcomed by the Governor of Basra, Engineer Asaad Al-Eidani. This was followed by a speech by Dr. Jassem Al-Azzawi, then the President of the University of Basrah, Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, the Director General of Basra Health Department, Dr. Abbas Al-Tamimi, the Doctors Syndicate, Dr. Osama Al-Rudaini, and the Dean of the College of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Mortada Muhammad Salih Al-Musafir.
Then a lecture was given, where a large group of local figures in Basra Governorate attended the conference and the sponsoring companies of the conference were honored with a shield by the Chairman of the Scientific Committee, Prof. Dr. Ali Rahim Hashem.
