The thesis dealt with the topic of sustainable development, its importance, stages of development, continuous updates in its concepts, and the developmental reality experienced by the main cities in Maysan Governorate by addressing several criteria and methods aimed at achieving development in them, as well as the main dimensions of sustainable development and its applications to the study area.
The thesis aims to identify the development reality experienced by the main cities in Maysan Governorate, and to identify some development methods that can guide the appropriate sustainable development method to be achieved in those cities, and to put forward a number of criteria and apply some of them, and what has been achieved from the dimensions of sustainable development in them.
The thesis concluded that there are many methods that can be adopted in sustainable development and achieving its goals and objectives, and when trying to apply the United Nations standards to the main cities, it turns out that they are all outside these standards, and development in its social dimension must reduce the rate of population growth, and work to redistribute the population.
