
This morning, the University of Basrah inaugurated a new technical and artistic edifice, represented by (Basrah University Printing House), the second printing house to be opened after the Dar Al-Kutub Press for Printing and Publishing, which was established in 1969.
Regarding the purpose of establishing this new edifice, the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, said, “We decided to open the new Basrah University Printing House to be an auxiliary to the Dar al-Kutub House for Printing and Publishing in order to maximize resources and increase the university’s publications, especially after the increase in the number of students accepted in it during the past two years. As well as the establishment of new colleges and scientific departments, and the relying of most of the Iraqi universities near our governorate on the printing houses of the University of Basrah.
The new printing press was equipped with a specialized and professional technical cadre and the latest paper-cutting and repackaging devices and digital photocopying devices, as well as the formation of a technical division specialized in photo-montage, which provides design services to various state departments wishing to implement their publications in this modern printing press.
Shaheen added - We will work in the next few days to address all government departments in the governorate to urge them to implement their publications at competitive prices compared to the local markets, and on this occasion we thank and praise the local Basra government, which contributed with us in opening this edifice by providing us with many modern machines and equipment as a grant.
