I discussed a doctoral thesis at the College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah (the effect of treatment with humic acid, magnesium and zinc on the growth of the rosemary plant Rosmarinus officinalis L. and its yield from volatile oil). The thesis of the researcher (Ali Adnan Zughair) included knowing the effect of spraying each of the organic fertilizers humic acid and the chemical nutrients magnesium and zinc on the vegetative and chemical characteristics of the rosemary plant Rosmarinus officinalis L. and its yield from the volatile oil extracted from the leaves of the plant. And the diagnosis of the chemical compounds present in the volatile oil, as well as testing the concentrations of the volatile oil on the biological resistance against pathogens of Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Candida albicans. The thesis concluded that spraying plants with humic acid at a concentration of 7 ml L-1, magnesium at a concentration of 3 gm L-1 and zinc at a concentration of 50 mg L-1 led to a significant increase in most of the characteristics of vegetative growth, chemical characteristics of leaves and indicators of volatile oil yield, as well as the volatile oil gave an inhibitory effect. Against bacterial and fungal pathogens. The thesis recommended taking care of the cultivation of this plant in Iraq because of its nutritional and medical benefits and as an aromatic ornamental plant, and conducting more experiments using other fertilizer treatments and testing the inhibitory activity against other types and strains of pathogenic microorganisms.
