The College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah organized the second international scientific conference under the slogan (Pharmaceutical Sciences and its Role in Sustaining Community Health), with the participation of researchers and specialists.
The President of Basrah University, Prof. Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, explained the importance of pharmaceutical sciences and their role in community service, and praised the great role of the College of Pharmacy during the Corona pandemic crisis and the pharmaceutical research that obtained patents from inside and outside Iraq.
The Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Falah Hassan Shari, explained through his speech at the conference that approximately 43 researches had been submitted, 32 of which were approved to participate in the conference, all of which are original unpublished research, and nearly half of the research has been nominated for publication in the Iraqi Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences. After coordination with the journal, in addition to making a special booklet for the conference proceedings, which includes 32 completed research papers, preparations are underway for it electronically on the college website.
The conference discussed several topics, including the measurement of some vital stimuli in the blood serum of workers near oil wells, as well as the evaluation of the pharmacological efficacy of some chemical compounds and their chemical evaluation.
Some researchers also touched on ways to dispense medicines in pharmacies such as corticosteroids, and some research discussed the Corona pandemic, the genetic study of the virus, the medicines used in its treatment, the side effects of the treatments used for the virus, as well as vaccines and their types and their impact on the virus.
