The Department of Geology at the College of Science organized a panel discussion entitled (Preparing a database of marine debris and assessing its environmental impact on the Shatt al-Arab stream). The economic aspect and its impact on the common border of the river between Iraq and Iran. The study included a statement of the extent of the environmental impact on the bottom sediment waters resulting from the waste products of these submersibles, with an indication of the extent of their impact on the site of the proposed regulatory dam north of Abu Flus, in addition to revealing the locations of submersible objects, especially unknown ones, which may represent dangerous military residues on the human side.
