The College of Education for Human Sciences - University of Basra - Department of Quran Sciences organized the third integrated international scientific conference entitled (Islamic values and their role in the advancement of human society).
The aim of the conference was to clarify the role of Islamic values in the economic development, advancement and reconstruction of human society, as well as highlighting the essential role of Islamic values in reforming societies and spreading tolerance, peaceful coexistence and cooperation among peoples. Contemporary and aims, and to identify the role of Islamic values in establishing good systems for the leadership of human societies.
The conference started with its themes in which the participating research was built according to its accord. The first axis was about moral values in the Qur’an and their role in the advancement of society. As for the second axis, it spoke about moral values in the Prophetic Sunnah and their role in the advancement of society, and between the third axis the trilogy of jurisprudence, ethics and society. The fourth axis spoke of moral values in monotheistic religions, and the fifth axis discussed values and ethics in the Western world, and the last axis was about moral values in literary texts.
The conference concluded with a set of recommendations, the most important of which was the inclusion of ethical vocabulary and decisions in university curricula within the teacher’s preparation in the faculties of education, and the preparation of a binding ethical charter for scientific arbitration of educational research, as well as the need to pay attention to the development of ethics in all institutions of society.
