The College of Science at the University of Basrah organized a seminar entitled (Using of let-7a miRNA in gene regulation and therapy as anti-tumor control in breast cancer patients in Basrah province) by the graduate student Suhyila Fadhil Ali. The study aims treatment of breast cancer by gene therapy and included the restoration of let-7a expression level in breast cancer cells and analysis the apoptosis of these cells by p53 and proliferation by PIK3CA, AKT1 and mTOR. The results showed increasing in apoptosis while the proliferation was reduced when raising the let-7a levels that reinforce the role of let-7a as gene therapy tool of breast cancer and the study was recommended that using let-7a as biomarker diagnosis of breast cancer and study the other pathways under increasing let-7a levels and combination between traditional treatment with the genetic treatment and use animal model for study the effects of level restoration of the human let-7a miRNA on breast cancer in vivo.
