The Cultural Center and the College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah concluded the activities of the second edition of the University Culture Forum, which was held in cooperation with the Basra Injaz Foundation for Development
, on the gardens of Al-Farahidi Street in the center of Basra, parallel to Al-Mutanabi Street in Baghdad.
The forum concluded with the establishment of a cultural symposium on (reading and the book), with the participation of the director of Wter House for Printing and Publishing, Mr. Omar Abdel Hamid, with a lecture on (Between Reading, Books and Publishing Houses) in addition to a lecture by the owner of the Fikra library, Mr. Alaa Kazem on (promoting the book and reading it), a presentation of a documentary film about the Center Produced by the Cultural Relations and Media Unit, and an exhibition of scientific products and literature for professors of the College of Agriculture.
Another exhibition of the center's cultural and artistic productions was also held.
The Director of the Cultural Center, Dr. Abdul Karim Abboud Odeh, stated at the closing ceremony of the forum that the university has an actual and academic importance that confirms its strong presence in cultural forums and among the layers and segments of the Basra community, and that it seeks to create a permanent knowledge communication in the community as an important and effective part of the city’s cultural position.
