The University of Basrah, in cooperation with the Sarata Al-Salam in Basra, organized a memorial forum to commemorate the 24th anniversary of the martyrdom of Sayyid Muhammad Muhammad Sadiq al-Sadr (may God sanctify his soul) and his two sons. The University President, Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, said in a speech at the opening ceremony, “Our commemoration of the martyrdom anniversary of Sayyid Muhammad al-Sadr after all these years is a clear evidence of the continuity of his blessed efforts and that his efforts did not go with the wind and that his jihad and scientific biography can be recorded within the course of reformers in history because of his eligibility and great ability to reformulate the history of the Islamic nation, which was intended to disappear in that era, scientifically, ideologically and religiously.
For his part, the commander of the Saraya Al-Salam in Basra, Mr. Abdul-Zahra Al-Maryani, said, “On the twenty-fourth anniversary of the martyrdom of Sayyid Muhammad Muhammad Sadeq al-Sadr and his two sons, we remember him for addressing all components of the Iraqi people, including clans, doctors, intellectuals, the poor and needy, and brought them out of darkness into the light and gave his pure blood and the blood of his two sons for the sake of this community."
The memorial gathering included popular words and poems that expressed the extent of loyalty to the martyr and a tribute to a group of instructors, deans and students for their prominent role in serving the academic community, and an exhibition of memorial photos that included the martyr, his sons and followers of his school and an exhibition of his jurisprudential and legal writings and explanations of his lessons.
