
Basrah University won the second and third places in the first national Quranic competition for memorizing and reciting the entire Holy Quran for female students of Iraqi universities, organized by the Islamic University of Najaf, with the participation of (40) female students to represent (15) competing universities in the fields of memorizing the entire Quran and its recitation.
The Director of the Student Activities Department, Dr. Ghassan Al-Bachari, said, "we won the second place in the recitation section by student Zahraa Shaker Shanawa from the Department of Earth Sciences at the College of Science, and the third place in the Tajweed section by the student Asawer Zahraa Hammoud from the Department of Environmental Sciences at the College of Science as well. As a result of this victory, the two students qualified for the major international competition that will be held in the Imam Reza (PBUH) Mashhad Governorate in the Islamic Republic of Iran next July.
