A master's thesis titled (Evaluation of water quality of the Southern Al-Hawizeh Marsh using environmental and diatoms water quality indices) was defended at College of Science, department of Ecology on 20 June 2022 for the postgraduate Candidate Safa Hussain Saki. The aim of the thesis is Assessment of the water quality of the Al-Hawizeh marsh by measuring the physical, chemical and biological factors of the marsh water and applying four indices: CCME WQI, OPI, TDI and SPI.
The study recommended the need for government and academic attention to the marshes and to find mechanisms to address environmental damage in the marshes and rehabilitate them.
