On Tuesday morning, 21 June 2022, at the Department of history at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah a master's thesis entitled (Books on the merits of the imams of the Ahl al-Bayt, peace be upon them, a study of the beginnings, causes and methods of authorship until the end of the seventh century AH) was discussed.
The thesis presented by the student Nofal Shiba Hamza included an introduction and three chapters. The introduction dealt with the scope of the research and the presentation of the sources. The first chapter discussed the concept and beginnings of authorship in the virtues. The second chapter discussed the reasons for authorship in the virtues of the imams of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them). The third chapter focused on the types and methods of writing books about the virtues of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace on them ).
The thesis aims to the focus on knowledge of the beginnings of authorship in the virtues of the imams of Al-Bayt (peace be upon them ), the first to write in their virtues, and to find out the most important reasons that prompted the authors to compose in the virtues by knowing the circumstances surrounding the authors, in addition to standing on the approaches followed in authorship.
The thesis concluded that there are types of books written on the virtues of the imams of the Ahl al-Bayt, peace be upon them, among them are the books on the virtues of individual ones, which are concerned with the virtues of one of the imams. The largest number of them were those books written on the virtues of Imam Ali bin Abi Talib, peace be upon him, and books on specific and general virtues, as well as writing books of abbreviations and complements to books on virtues..
