
A master's thesis at the College of Science at the University of Basrah discussed an ecological study of aquatic plants in the Euphrates River in Al-Muthanna Governorate / Iraq.
The thesis presented by the student Haifa Afrit Jahil included studying the physical and chemical properties of river water that affect the growth and distribution of aquatic plants and identifying the percentages of its coverage and the living mass of aquatic plants prevalent in the Euphrates River in the Muthanna Governorate.
This thesis aims to study the aquatic plants in the Euphrates River in Muthanna and to identify their role in the aquatic environment in the Euphrates River.
The thesis concluded that there are 13 types of aquatic plants and recommended the necessity of monitoring some invasive species, such as the Nile flower and Azolla, and controlling their spread.
